«Modern technologies of water purification and water treatment»

The main task of the scientific circle is to encourage students to research work in the field of natural water treatment and wastewater treatment. The members of the circle are engaged in the development and research of new reagents for water purification and water treatment processes using various purification methods. The obtained results are published by: participation in All-Ukrainian and International scientific conferences, publication of articles in professional journals and journals indexed by scientific-metric databases, for example Scopus base.

Students of our Department together with teachers work on the following projects:

• development of methods for effective water purification from manganese ions using sorption and catalytic processes;
• study of metal corrosion processes and the effect of new inhibitor compositions in environments with different salt content;
• study of the influence of different microorganism groups on the corrosion process in a neutral aqueous medium in the presence of metal ions;
• creation of a laboratory installation for studying the processes of gas evolution during heat treatment of the material;
• use of manganese compounds as catalysts for the oxidation of carbon monoxide.

 





 

«Innovative technologies for processing plant polymers»

The scientific circle unites graduates and employees of the Department of Ecology and Polymer Plant Technology, who are united by a common interest in scientific activities in the field of chemical technology of processing plant materials into cellulose-containing products. The urgency of such research is related to the need to increase the production of pulp-containing products of the pulp and paper, chemical-pharmaceutical and wood processing industries to meet the growing needs of the population in consumer goods with increasing standards; development of resource-saving ecologically safe technologies of domestic vegetable raw materials processing into cellulose-containing products; creation of new environmentally friendly and modernization of existing production of cellulose-containing products to reduce import dependence, rational use of natural resources, increase the competitiveness of domestic enterprises, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of the state.

The activity of the circle contributes to the involvement of students in scientific and innovative activities on the subject of the department; prepares students for independent engineering work; organization and holding of scientific competitions, public lectures, scientific readings, seminars, olympiads, festivals, exhibitions; promotes the participation of students in international and national competitions in natural and technical sciences, contests; presentation of publications in journals indexed by scientometric databases, the acquisition of new scientific knowledge and improving the status of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute as a scientific institution.

Every year the students prepare reports and information about the progress of scientific research at the meetings of the circle, search for scientific materials on research topics, prepare abstracts at scientific and technical international and Ukrainian conferences and publish articles in professional scientific journals and collections of different conferences.
